On 6 December 2022 the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs Better Pay) Act 2022 received Royal Assent.
The Secure Jobs Better Pay Act amends the following Acts:
- Fair Work Act 2009
- Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009
- Fair Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009
The amendments made by the Secure Jobs Better Pay Act will have a significant impact on the work of the Commission, including changes to existing functions and conferring new functions on the Commission.
The amendments will commence in stages over a 12 month period.
Acting President Hatcher has issued a statement setting out a brief overview of the relevant amendments and outlining the approach we intend to take concerning consultation and engagement throughout the implementation process.
