On Thursday, 22 September 2022 we will observe a National Day of Mourning for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Our offices will be closed, as the day has been declared a public holiday to allow people to pay their respects for the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.

Lodging an application on the public holiday
You can lodge an application at any time by sending your completed form by email to melbourne@fwc.gov.au.

21 day time limit for dismissal applications
There is a 21 day time limit for lodging unfair dismissal applications and general protections dismissal applications.
This deadline still applies even if our office is closed. It is very important that you get your application in before the deadline.
We count the 21 days from the date your dismissal took effect.
If the deadline falls on a weekend or a public holiday, we will extend the time limit to the next day. You can lodge an application by email when we’re closed.
Remember that you can always lodge your application before the deadline. It is easier to add more information to your application after you’ve lodged it than it is to lodge a late application.
Friday, 23 September 2022 is also a public holiday in Victoria. Our Melbourne office will be closed, but all other offices will be open.
Monday, 26 September 2022 is also a public holiday in Western Australia. Our Perth office will be closed, but all other offices will be open.
