We have released a discussion paper on job security as part of the Modern Awards Review 2023–24.
Our staff prepared the paper to help guide the consultation process and encourage a comprehensive dialogue on whether the terms of modern awards appropriately reflect the new object of the Fair Work Act 2009 and the modern awards objective regarding job security and the need to improve access to secure work across the economy.
The release of this paper was previously announced in President Justice Hatcher’s 4 October 2023 statement. The paper is published in accordance with the scheduled timetable for the Modern Awards Review 2023–24.
Deputy President Gostencnik and Commissioner Tran have also issued a statement setting out the proposed timetable for the consultation process. Consultation will be conducted by Deputy President Gostencnik and Commissioner Tran.
Interested parties are invited to make submissions in response to the discussion paper and comment on the conduct of the consultation process by 12pm on 5 February 2024.
A mention hearing to finalise arrangements for the consultation process will held at 3pm on Tuesday 6 February 2024.
We have also prepared a submission cover sheet for interested parties to use when making submissions to the review.
